- "If the world won't accept progress willingly, I must make Humanity carve out its own survival. The Auric Aria left us with a divine mandate for Humanity to subdue anything for control. We can only believe in us and solely in the essence of our very own creator in this predatory world. Never again will my people be victims."
"The elevation of "cosmic fatalism" and the worship of the Infinite Void are simply ideological excuses for those too weak to assert their own will and master their own destiny."
Cadmus Tacet is born as an Underdog and is one of the most important figures of Arcanoria. He is the very first person to coin the term Age of Humanity properly during Ages V and proposes that Humanity must forge its own future through the ruthless pursuit of progress. He is very devout to the Auric Aria and believes that truth and safety can only come from the scalpel of human reason and its creator.
The core philosophy of Cadmus Tacet cements during his childhood after being witness to the tyrannical oppression of draconic Pure Light beings who subjugated and enslaved the human populace on the region he was born. Treating human sacrifice as tribute and livestock.
The words of the Age of Humanity engraved in his mind by witnessing the execution of a man whose name he never knew yet would never forget his last words, vowing to make it a prophecy:
- "Poor little, human. Too small to even serve a snack. Face it, you are weak, and you will always be the subject of the Pure Light rule forever while your kind cowers in the grass." - Demi Human Dragon executor.
- "I swear, by my last breath, that one day... a reckoning will come. Humanity will outlast every single one of you, and your very essence shall become the fuel on which the sons of my sons will run. And then you will see, for that will be the Age of Humanity."
- "Is that insolence your last words? Pathetic." The executor says as he impaled the neck of the man with a Crystal spear.
Cadmus Tacet is then driven in exile to escape the very same fate of this man, and makes a desperate search of anything that would make him question what do Pure Light beings have that Humanity does not. He awakens his Motif Awakening on the search of the truth beneath what could be the structure that makes Humanity outlast these very executors that treated Humanity as livestock and slaves.
He then goes on an expedition of several archeomagical sites and obscure Legends to find the truth that would give Humanity an edge over the tyranny of Pure Light. On his search he finds the obscure work of Vals Jenner, the first epidemiologist that was studying the remnants of the Great Plague, and uses this knowledge to become the first means of developing his own techniques. He uses the knowledge on the vaccines that Vals Jenner developed while searching for further clues on how to even conduct surgery. This is his formal foundation in medicine albeit self-taught, he further polishes his knowledge by pursuing other Legends during his expeditions.
His search eventually makes him come to the Legend of the Killer of the Great Expanse. He begins searching for the truth of this Legend, and after much dedication he finally uncovers the "treasure trove of sculptures" of the killer which have detailed logs and compositions of Spellweaving designed to create the tools necessary. The Beautifier also has detailed logs on the anatomy of body parts and some of the sculptures feature Pure Light beings, this is where Cadmus Tacet comes to the knowledge of both human organs and Coherence-Binding Tissue. He later adopts his own style based on the teachings of Syvanth. He develops a vision too of "There's even something to learn from monsters" to begin the dissection, study, and cruel experiments on Pure Light beings.
Character Details
- He has a PTSD fear from his infancy of the clicking sound some of the dragons made before choosing a target for execution. This sound makes him instantly leave any areas during his expeditions, making him on the run as a permanent traveler of knowledge while knowing his own life is on the very line.
- When he eventually grows up, this ticking sound has still PTSD in him, he realizes by having his first "screw up" during vivisection precisely because of this noise that startled him while undergoing surgery as the patient's own throat bloated with blood. This is the visceral connection that reminds him that despite everything, he is still human.
- Despite being very violent towards Pure Light beings, he's actually fond of most humanoids that share similar structure preaching that they can actually coexist with humans, this includes a good amount of elves, human hybrids, demi humans that only have small differences such as fox ears or a tail. His "hard" limit for empathy is anything below 65% Auric Structure.
- He's very gentle with human children and actually has a following around him by being a tutor in the arts of magic and primitive medicine. He actively teaches humans near him on how to do spells for healing and prevention of wounds worsening in both magical (without Strand magic) and non magical ways. He prioritizes non Spellweavers as he sees that they are the most vulnerable.
- On his Motif Awakening he received his cherished Auric Bell Staff from a mentor who took the risk of giving him the staff to attune for himself at 16. This was a transgression his mentor took because it usually requires being Lunar Cycle 20 of age to receive one. However, this was the first and most important comfort that he would receive his entire life. The hum of the chorus of everyone came before him were the bedrock for his psychological grounding for the Age of Humanity as he didn't even know his own parents. This "being on the shoulder of giants" to establish Mastery Over Chaos was his grounding principle on every hard choice. The time he almost lost the Auric Bell Staff he almost went insane looking for it as it was his entire support mechanism, which prompted him to establish a Soul-Binding ritual to keep it permanently with him to never lose it again.
- He loves animals that don't display magical properties, most commonly he prefers cattle and actively engages with Domestication Enclaves that aren't involved with Pure Light beings, sponsoring the development of human technology and coexisting with "safe" beings to the point of even pushing for animal rights. Furthermore, he has a deep respect for Agromagical Enclaves despite not sharing the same medicinal approach. He values them as the first "keepers of knowledge" due to the first uses of observation to create irrigation, culture and plantation techniques, he particularly praises the "domestication of magic" as means to enhance human survival.
- Auric Enclaves are his common ground during the early history of his exploration. Most of his knowledge comes from the mentorship of pious of the Auric Order. Although he never fully reveals his plans due to fear of retaliation and having a similar fate to that of Vals Jenner. Nonetheless, he relies actively on them as sources of information.
