The Spell Builder

Choose your spell’s Root, picture its effect and decide what you will sacrifice. The builder records your choices on a spell card.

The writing table

Choose a Root to define the spell and Minor Notes to shape it, then describe the effect and its sacrifice. Each choice updates the card. You can also start with a spell from the story and adapt it.

The Dynamics of Spellweaving

Cymatics of the soul: introducing sheet music to the universe, and making it sing.

Spellweaving has no mana pool. The seven bindings already sound through the world; a weaver arranges them into a chord. The Major Note, or Root, defines the spell. Minor Notes at the third, fifth and seventh refine its effect without replacing that Root. The mode gives the chord its character. Conviction, focus, precision and Essence Sacrifice determine how well the weaver can realise it. Explore those principles at the Tessitura of Spellweaving.

A worked example: the fireball

With Cindergale as Root, the spell is fire. Flux at the third gives the flame motion, while Crystal at the fifth holds its shape until it lands. If Crystal were the Root and Cindergale the third, those same bindings would instead form a barrier that burns to the touch.

A worked failure: conviction is not enough

A tetrad can collapse despite total conviction and unbroken focus if the weaver lacks precision. Notes that fail to agree produce Discordant Interference. Each added binding demands a clearer intention, which makes tetrads master-level work. Most magic in Arcanoria uses a single sustained note.

The Soul-Key

A weaver’s Fundamental Frequency sets their reference key. An apprentice whose frequency remains at Resonance hears a purifying fire rooted in Cindergale as C Minor. A proficient weaver rooted in Cindergale hears it as F Minor. The notes stay the same, but the weaver’s tonal reference changes.
